Samoa Tsunami Appeal

Dear Brethren -

The Grand Lodge of New Zealand has offered our support to our two Lodges in Samoa, Lodge Calliope No 252 and Lodge Benjamin Kneubuhl No 441, for the Tsunami disaster that has recently occurred in both Western Samoa and American Samoa. We have asked them to let us know what they might need at this terrible time.

We are awaiting their advice but in the meantime Freemasons New Zealand is starting its own appeal the proceeds of which will be passed directly to the Lodges in Samoa for use in disaster recovery in the islands.

The Book of Constitution states at Rule 228(b) that the Freemasons Charity Funds are "solely devoted to charity within New Zealand". However the Board of General Purposes is launching our New Zealand appeal with a donation from its funds of $10,000. Individuals, Lodges and Freemason Trusts are invited to contribute.
