I have heard about the operative freemasons in NZ - can anyone shed light on this group?

Here is a link that I have found, looks pretty interesting. Actually I am aware that the Treasurer of my lodge is a member of the one assembly in Adelaide.

Geof Davies

The last two also have email addresses but I don't have them at hand at this time (I am at work)

The Oeratives have approx 85 members in NZ, with Assembalges in Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Christchurch and Nelson. It was founded in the 1920s and consists of 7 degrees (4 "normal" and 3 higher).

The ceremony is based on the old "operative" masonic ceremonies as opposed to the "speculative", the candidate is made to represent the stone in various stages of preparedness. There is quite a lot of furniture and some interesting parts of the ritual. It appears to be growing quite rapidly worldwide.

I have an information pamphlet I can email anybody who is interested in this fascinating side degree.

Cheers
