I dont know if lodges discuss much, but im sure these forums should be used for this kind of thing:

One committee meeting brought a discussion of insurance and the new levies for earthquake etc and full replacement. This prompted a lively dicussion as to the worth of some items and that the Newly installed master does a stock take/inventory of lodge equipment for insurance updates each year.

But. a text inventory of lodge equipment would barely do justice to a "senior wardens column, approx 18inches high"

so i have undertaken the task of documenting photographically all aspects of each item in the lodge, including all fittings, equipment, regalia etc completely
This is going to be a large task involving hundreds of high quality digital photos but it allows several members like my self to really get to know some of the history of the lodge by examining (and inevitably discussing) the items documented. We will also be documenting the lodge rooms, fitting etc for the same reasons.

This obviously allows much greater information to be kept and easily accessed than the text form in the event of a terrible loss or damage due to obviously unforeseen events.

Note. we have had some losses through theft and such documentation would have been invaluable when it came to formally identifying the recovered items later.

Just idea, now being implemented.
If your already doing such a thing then say so here! such ideas are great and others may not be doing it!

Fraternal greetings Bro Paul.

Please remember this is the public forum and that you as a registered user of the Members Area could post this there, this discussion may perhaps create more discussion over in the public area.

Perhaps the webmaster and moderator will consider this area in the public forum a contradiction to the members area and that we are in fact UTC 13 hrs :-) ?.

Confused, sorry please clarify

Are you suggesting the topic would be best in the secure members area?
if the topic generates more discussion in the public area, are you suggesting it best be kept here, in the public?
There are similar forums in the members and public area, are they in contradiction ?

The intent of this topic is to stimulate ideas, and the sharing of non-specific information for the well being and growth of the craft in anyway possible and this small housekeeping task i found seemed to fit that bill. (non-specific and a usefull idea that others may not have thought of)

Respectfully confused.

This topic is OK here - it is up to the members where they post conversations. Paul your comments are pretty general so I don't see a problem posting in the public area. This sort of thing is dealt with by Bridge Clubs, bowling clubs and many others so is not specific to us. Once again - it is up to the member where they post.
