Freemasonry in NZ Masonic Museums
Masonic Museums Print

There are two Masonic Museums in New Zealand.

1 - Grand Lodge Building, Willis St, Wellington

2 - St Benedicts' Street, Auckland

(Please note that due to space restrictions in the new Wellington premises, the museum in Wellington is currently in storage and cannot be viewed at this time)

The Museums contain many Masonic treasures. Efforts have been made to obtain as far as possible, a Founder’s Jewel, Past Master’s Jewel and Centennial Jewel or other Commemorative Jewel for every Lodge that is or was on the roll of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. These are on display in wall cases. In addition other display cases contain a variety of regalia and other items such as a complete set of Grand Master’s regalia.

Other displays contain Royal Arch items pertinent to New Zealand or items pertaining to various other Masonic Orders operating in New Zealand.

Because of the number of items held, and the inevitable space limitations, the displays are regularly rotated.

Should any Lodge or individual have a Jewel or other historic item which they feel may be of interest or value to the Museum in order to assist in the completion of our collection, feel free to contact:

The Museum affords safe care for those items which might otherwise have been lost or thrown away.
