The Honey Story- and More

V WBro John Livingston, a hobby apiarist who loves bees and honey and is a very active member of Lodge Manawatu Kilwinning No. 47, presented his Lodge Almoners with 500 gm pots of honey for distribution to their Widows and aged Brethren.

This being a very successful idea, John decided that he would offer the Lodge Almoners of the Manawatu Wanganui Association the 500 gm pots of honey at a very nominal cost, which was taken up by several lodges.

The Otaihape Lodge Almoner V WBro.Gordon Riach having delivered honey to the widows and aged Brethren  of the lodge, called on Bro.Austin Hayward who lives in Mangaweka and is always pleased to receive some company. Austin has just given up playing golf. During the Second World War Austin flew spitfires and was involved in the Battle of Brittan. Austin is an ardent historian and particularly interested in the area of the 2nd World War aerial combat history in Europe.

Austin was so pleased with the honey, V WBro Gordon Riach came away with a bag of persimmons and a bag of oranges, much more than he arrived with.

The Almoner for Lodge Waikaremoana WBro NS Day noted they hold a monthly Fish and Chip evening with their Lodge Widows and Elderly Brethren which they all look forward to immensely.

These are some of the things the Lodges are doing so that they keep in touch with the people that matter in the life of the Lodges.
